Aspects of Source Rock Evaluation and Diagenetic History of the Akinbo' Shale Eastern Dahomey Basin, Southwestern Nigeria

چکیده
The Akinbo Formation comprises a sequence of mostly dark, pale-greenish grey, laminated shale, slightly glauconitic shale, sandy shale with subordinate claystone lenses. Selected subsurface samples of the shaly facies as penetrated by Akinside 1582 well in eastern Dahomey basin. were investigated by sedimentological. mineralogical and geochemical parameters to ascertain the hydrocarbon potential and deduce the influence of variations of clay mineral indicators on the prospect

Geochemical Characteristics and Hydrocarbon Generation Modelling of Early Triassic to Late Cretaceous Formations within Ogaden Basin, Ethiopia
The major goal of this study is the evaluation of the source rock of Ogaden Basin using Rock-Eval Pyrolysis, Vitrinite reflectance (%Ro), and well log data of the Permo-Triassic and the Mesozoic sequences including Karro, Hamanlei, and Urandab Formations. Burial history and level of thermal maturity of the Bodle-1 well, the Calub-1 well and the Hilala-2 well were modeled based on the calibratio...
متن کاملOrganic Geochemical Evaluation of Madbi Source Rock, Al-Jawf Basin, NE Central Yemen
Organic geochemical evaluation of the Madbi Formation as the main source rock of the Al-Jawf Basin, NE Central Yemen was the main objective of this study. The organic geochemical methods used in the study include: rock-eval pyrolysis, total organic carbon, and optical measurements as the vitrinite reflectance and thermal alteration index. In this study, 67 well core and side-well core samples o...
متن کاملPorosity evolution and diagenetic history of the upper Jurassic Mozduran Formation, eastern Kopet-Dagh Basin, NE Iran
The Upper Jurassic carbonates of the eastern part of the Kopet-Dagh Basin, with thickness of 470 m, are the major gas-bearing reservoir in NE Iran. The objectives of this study are recognition of diagenetic history and estimation of porosity related to dolomitization. Based on field and laboratory study, four carbonate facies associations have been identified at the Mazdavand outcrop. Most of t...
متن کاملCombined use of palynology and organic geochemistry in petroleum potential evaluation and paleoenvironmental interpretation of the Kazhdumi Formation (Aptian-Cenomanian) in the southwestern Zagros Basin, Iran
The Kazhdumi Formation of the Bangestan Group is a well-known and important source rock in most oil-fields in the Zagros Basin. In order to examine productivity of this formation in southwestern Iran, and to correlate petrographical and palynological data with geochemical properties, one of the best outcrops of this formation, located in Tange-Maghar 45 km northwest of Behbahan city, was sampl...
متن کاملOccurrence and Distribution of Chrysene and its Derivatives in Crude Oils and Source Rock Extracts from Niger Delta, Nigeria
Crude oils and source rocks from the northern and offshore Niger Delta basin, Nigeria, have been characterized by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry in terms of their origin and thermal maturity based on the distribution of chrysene and its derivatives. The crude oils and source rocks were characterized by the dominance of chrysene over benzo[a]anthracene. 3-methylchrysene predominated over o...
